Safe and confidential virtual counseling services in the comfort of your own home.

At Vis-à-Vis Counseling, I provide accessible counseling and therapy to individuals and couples to support their mental health.

The name “Vis-à-Vis” means face-to-face in French and reflects my commitment to providing attentive counseling services. Even though the counseling is virtual, we are, no less, meeting face-to-face.

My counseling sessions are done over a HIPAA secure video conferencing platform to keep your personal information protected. My Administration team and billing service providers will take care of the insurance process so you can focus on what’s most important: you

Individual Counseling

Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural reaction we all experience from time to time.

However, if these anxious feelings impact on your ability to do normal activities, it can help to talk with someone.

Serious anxiety can look like many things:

  • Generalized Anxiety. Worrying excessively about and overthinking everyday things in your life.

  • Social Anxiety.  Avoiding social settings because you are afraid of interacting with other people.

  • Phobias. Feeling intense fear about a specific object or situation even though it is not in itself threatening.

  • Panic. Experiencing frightening moments of dread where you feel like you are dying or cannot breathe.

I use approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Behavior Modification and other Therapies, to help you face your fears and break down the mental barriers that trigger anxiety.

Depression

Depression affects people from all walks of life. You can be going through a major life change such as a divorce or new job, or be living a wonderful life others dream about, and still feel a sense of sadness.

When experiencing depression, you may have feelings of hopelessness that keep you from being able to enjoy activities you once loved. You might be preoccupied with thoughts about death, or unable to concentrate on daily tasks. These symptoms can last for long periods of time or they can be sporadic in nature.

Despite the growing number of people who experience depression, many people are afraid to reach out for help. As a trusted therapist, I want to help you in your quest for relief and help you develop coping strategies to support your well-being moving forward.

Emotional Outbursts

An anger response may only last for 90 seconds but the impact it has can be destructive to ourselves and others. Strong emotions can cause us to lash out at the people we love. Or, we might be easily prone to road rage or other stressful situations that can lead to actions we later regret.

Together, we’ll identify your triggers in a safe and non-judgmental counseling environment and work on developing useful strategies to help you control your anger rather than it control you.

Stress and Trauma

Your experiences of stress and trauma can have detrimental effects on your physical and emotional well-being, now and in the years to come. You may have flashbacks or nightmares from a terrifying event from your past. Or, you may avoid people and places that trigger painful memories. Maybe you’re not sleeping well or eating properly.

I help you work through the distressing impacts of stress and trauma with techniques based on researched methods such prolonged exposure therapy, behavior modification, in-vivo and imaginal exposure therapy to confront your biggest fears and reduce their hold on your life.

Together, we’ll identify your triggers in a safe and non-judgmental counseling environment and work on developing useful strategies to help you control your anger rather than it control you.

Biblical Counseling

If you are a believer of the Christian faith, or are interested in exploring it, you may wish to seek spiritual guidance to support you when facing life’s difficulties. I offer Biblical/Christian counseling to support your spiritual growth on your journey to mental health.

It is not the work of a counselor to impose their beliefs onto others.

I believe only God can lead others to Him:

The only way people come to me is by the Father who sent me—he pulls on their hearts to embrace me…” John 6:44 (TPT)

The single most positive, life-changing event that ever occurred to me was when I was between 16-17 years old and God drew me into a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I believe God’s words are words of everlasting life. I have personally found, firsthand, the transformative and transcendent impact His words have had on my life.

My services are never limited to Christians or those interested in Christianity.  I am privileged to help clients of all faiths and lifestyles, including people who are agnostic or atheist.

Know that I do not impose my faith onto any of my clients. I am here to help everyone.

Couples & Marriage Therapy

Your connection to your spouse is important but it can be hard when there is strife in your relationship. Being disconnected from each other, or having differing needs, can erode your well-being and functioning.

With techniques identified by relationship researcher, John Gottman, Ph.D., I'll help improve relationships. I also teach communication skills to couples and facilitate opening dialogue to work through problems and barriers.

  • In-Network Insurances
Navigating insurance is like trying to learn a new language. Don’t worry, we speak it. Let us take care of that for you. At Vis-à-Vis Counseling, our Administrative team can work with you to make the insurance process as simple as possible. We will verify your eligibility for insurance benefits and review disputes on your behalf. We work with the following list of in-network insurances: Aetna Amerigroup Asuris Beacon Blue Cross Blue Shield Cigna Community Health Plan of Washington First Choice Health Heritage Kaiser Lifewise Optum Behavioral Health Oscar Health Oxford Premera Blue Cross Regence Blue Shield United Healthcare
  • Payment Options
We use Lilac City Billing Services, LLC (a company vetted by the Washington State Psychological Association as their preferred billing company) to assist with processing fees with the exception of clients with United Healthcare (UHC). For UHC, we use a billing agency called Headway (and we will soon be utilizing Headway for clients with Premera). We (or, on our behalf, Lilac Billing Services, LLC, or Headway) will bill your health insurance if you have it. Effective 06/01/2021, all new clients are required to have a credit card number (or FSA or HCA card) on file so that co-pays and deductibles (or the full cost of the session for those not using insurance) can be charged upon completion of each session.
  • Cancellation Polic
A $75 fee is assessed for clients who do not cancel within 24 hours of their appointment. This is called a no-show fee and it is not billed to insurance. Your credit card (or FSA or HCA card) will be billed upon each no-show occurrence. If two consecutive no-shows occur, you will be taken off the calendar for any future, recurring appointments.
